"-how do you do it? -HOW DO YOU DO IT?"
Has anyone said that to you sometime? In that case you might be able to do magic, or maybe you already are a magician.
If you are interested in magic and think you are at least a "so, so" magician, it's a great treat to be a member of a magic circle.
how it all started...
The 3rd of March 1946 about 50 gentlemen and one lady - Mrs. Hector El Neco - met at the Carlton Hotel in Stockholm.
Their objective was to start a magic circle to unite Swedish magicians in a brotherly fashion. The Swedish Magic Circle's purpose was to take care of the Swedish magicians interest, create possibilities to better communications between Swedish magicians and magicians worldwide and unite their members via a magic magazine.
what do we do?
meetings:
Members of SMC live all over Sweden. From the town of Haparanda in the far north to the town of Ystad in the very south. Some SMC members live in the Scandinavian countries Norway, Finland and Denmark, but we also have members from countries like Germany, Japan and The US.
Every year we get together for a meeting somewhere in Sweden.
We also have a small meeting every month in Stockholm (members from other magic clubs are always welcome to attend).
"Trollkarlen"
Our member-magazine "Trollkarlen" (The Magician) is distributed 3-4 times a year.
To the left you can see how "Trollkarlen" looked in 1946 and to the right how it lookes today (2005).

our magic library
Through donations and investments during 50-years, we are now in possession of Sweden's most secret library.
As a member you can freely borrow these books from our librarian - either personally or via mail.
what else do we do
Each year we plan a picnic and some other social events for our members. We also present several seminars from top magicians several times a year (if you are a magician and you are in Europe on a lecture tour: please let us know and maybe we can arrange a seminar tour in Sweden as well).

awards
Except different medals for our members, Swedish Magic Circle also award special persons with the very unique Golden Plaque. One was awarded the famous magician and past president of Englands The Magic Circle, David Berglas for outstanding contribution to international magic.
The latest award was given to the Grimaldi family of Monaco in 2005 for their long support of the performance of magic at the cultural event MONTE-CARLO MAGIC STARS and for their continuous contribution to the elevation of magic as an art form.
The Swedish Magic Circle presented the award in 2005 to the Grimaldi Family and the President of the MONTE-CARLO MAGIC STARS, S.A.S la Princesse Stéphanie.
